WiZiQ's free Virtual Classroom is an online internet mediated classroom where the teacher and the students are connected to share a common workspace. In this online session, they make use of audio-video conferencing, text chat, whiteboard, and content sharing capabilities. There are no costs for using the virtual classroom. The sessions are recorded and are available online on WiZiQ, which can be accessed for later review or reference. Attendees can join a session with privileges to converse verbally with others; draw and write on whiteboard; and share Presentations, PDFs, Flash and Images. The teacher may withdraw or re-assign these privileges to the attendees. A Teacher can withdraw privileges from the attendee in terms that the attendee can not converse, or upload anything to share on whiteboard; in this case, the attendee is a spectator.

Skype is a voice over internet "telephone" service that lets you call other Skype users for free. With a webcam, you can make free video calls, too. Talk with authors, create collaborative projects, chat with experts--all for free! The Learning Librarian offers a  manual (.doc) she developed for her school's Skype use. You might also want to see authors who will Skype with your school at the Skype An Author Network. Many authors will chat with your students for 10-15 minutes for free! You can also arrange longer Skype visits with them for a fee. (The fee is for the author, NOT for Skype. Skype is free!) - webtools4u2use

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them.

Publish Podcasts  Audacity: Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds.  Why Audacity? Using Audacity eg http://www.teachertube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=5f0e881c4c65bf003c21

Suggestions from :http://www.education-world.com/a_tech/tech/tech238.shtml

Option 1: Podcast in Minutes with Odeo Studio
Odeo Studio (now http://odeo.com/studio ) is a free and easy way to record and upload podcasts for the classroom. Follow the site’s directions to create your own account, and then simply press a red button to record your first podcast. Give your podcast a title (Mrs. Smith’s Lecture on the Gilded Age, for example), and Odeo will give you a URL (Web site address) that you can share with students or parents. The process takes less than five minutes.

Option 2: Podcast by Phone with Gabcast
Don’t have a microphone or need to podcast off-site, maybe on a field trip to Washington DC? With Gabcast you simply dial a toll-free number and record a podcast anywhere, anytime using only your telephone. Go to the Web site, sign up and create what Gabcast calls "channels" or groups of podcasts. Make a channel for each group you teach. For example, if you teach four sections of Algebra I, you might want four channels. Create a PIN (personal identification number) and a password and you’re set. Grab a phone and record, and then send parents/students to Gabcast’s site to hear your podcast and comment on it. (Also try Braincast...rm)

Option 3: Podcast by PC
If your school or district has an easy way to share podcasts on your Web site, you can simply use Windows Sound Recorder (found under Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment) to record audio. Sound Recorder saves the files in the mp3 format, the most popular sound format. Once uploaded by the school or district, the files can be played by parents or students using Windows Media Player, iTunes for PC or Mac, or other sound players. If you want to pause your recording – say, to let another student record after the first, or if you are a music teacher and want to compile several tracks and do some editing, consider downloading Audacity, a robust yet simple-to-use open source audio recorder and editor. First-time users find the program a snap and both PC and Mac expert users praise Audacity for its advanced features. Just be sure to also download LAME from the same site to reformat the Audacity files into mp3 files.

      :) SPEAKing
You are probably most familiar with the term - speaking but remember that speaking is skill-based and simply denotes an ability to say things - which this excerpt from the 1973 movie "J'ai Mon Voyage" demonstrates.

This should drive home the difference between SPEAKING, the skill and INTERACTS Orally in English - the competency.
