General Information

 

Here on the site you will find the following materials to download: 

(You may also download these two zip files -  Yo_Canada1.zip (25mg) & Cards.zip (1 mg) - to receive the individual files mentioned below)

The game board  (There are two versions and two different formats:

-          Choose format 1 to print out the game board on two 8.5 X 11 sheets. These can then be assembled on a legal file if desired.)

-          Choose format 2  to size the game board as desired. For example, the hard-copy versions distributed were printed from this version in the format 22 X14. Another good size is to print the board on a single 17 X 11 sheet.

-          The two versions (version A  and version B) contain the same board, with a different background.

The rules

The cards

-          There are nine pages of cards total:

4 pages of green cards (questions);

2 pages of red cards (discussion cards) and

2 pages of blue cards (chance cards)

-          To make your own cards , use a MSWord table and create your own questions.

-          Cards in the hard-copy version were printed in corresponding coloured cardstock. They may of course be printed out on other colours or even on plain paper. It would be wise, however, to be able to readily distinguish the three types of cards. For more durability, laminate them.

The report contains all the necessary information about the game— how to pay it and how to use it in class— as well as some complementary activities, including a mystery word puzzle.

Texts about the provinces and territories

-          There is short text about each province and territory to provide students with background information.

Maps

-          An outline map (see the report) and a labeled map are provided as well.
